Miniature condenser microphone for Lightning port on iPhone, iPad and iPod

Author: Dan Slentz ⋅ Release time: October 26, 2021 ⋅ Update time: October 28, 2021

From those who brought you cheap microphone solutions, Movo has now launched their MA5L, which is a miniature condenser microphone for Lightning port devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod.

It couldn't be easier to use. Just plug it in and use your favorite software to record or use it as a live microphone for CleanFeed or other live streaming services.

The advantage is that it sounds better than the built-in, and can better control the pickup. The microphone is omnidirectional and has a good frequency response, listed between 50 Hz and 18 kHz. It can rotate, has a foam windshield, and includes a very beautiful hard-shell suitcase.

When I tested it, the mode was clearly omnidirectional, and it sounded like a good cheap microphone. For less than $45 (market price), it may work well for reporters who use the iPhone to capture live sounds and events. Keep in mind that since this mode is omnidirectional, it may not be suitable for use in noisy environments.

It should be noted that the design of the microphone base (closest to the Lightning interface) is slightly larger, so some phone cases may prevent a close fit.
