(Pocket-lint)-Rode has updated its popular video microphone smartphone microphone series, which includes a built-in USB-C connector for Android phones and tablets with Type-C ports.

It is called VideoMic Me-C, and it opens up the range of smartphone microphones for more devices than before. The previous models (Me and Me-L) built-in 3.5 mm jack/Lightning connector, only for iPhone.

With this new USB-C model, it not only means that Android phone users can quickly add higher quality audio to their videos and conference calls/video calls, but it also means that you can plug it directly into the iPad Pro.

Except for the new connector, all other specifications are almost the same as the iPhone version. Rode describes it as a "high-quality directional microphone."

It has a cardioid condenser pole for clear audio, and a 3.5 mm input port for plugging in headphones. It also comes with a microphone clip and a furry windshield, which will help reduce wind tearing noise during outdoor recording.

It is available for pre-order now, and is priced at approximately £65 in the UK and US$79 in the US.
