Dylan Frost has apologised to his fans after footage emerged of the Sticky Fingers singer punching his microphone and exiting the stage at a concert.

Fans had flocked to see the popular Australian indie rock band at Melbourne's Festival Hall on Saturday night.

But Frost became frustrated after his microphone reportedly broke during a performance of the band's song 'Not Done Yet'.

It prompted the 31-year-old frontman to dramatically punch the mic and storm off stage, which was captured on video on a concertgoer's phone.

His band mates followed soon after as boos were heard from the crowd.

Frost issued an apology for the dramatic outburst on social media on Sunday, explaining that he'd 'lost control'.

'I’m really sorry for last night in Melbourne,' he said.

'I’ve been working hard on myself and will continue to prioritise my health, but I still let a lot of you down.'

'I want to apologise to the fans and my band, our crew and venue staff. The tour has been amazing so far and we wanted to end it big but I just didn’t have it last night and I lost control.'

The lead singer said the band were planning on a 'new date' to 'make it up to everyone' at the concert.

He added that a refund would be provided to those who would rather have their ticket refunded instead.

Sticky Fingers have been no strangers to controversy, with Frost often making headlines over his behaviour in the past.

The lead singer reportedly got into a physical altercation with the band's bassist Paddy Cornwall in 2019, which resulted in Cornwall being sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

Frost has also been accused of alleged threatening and sexist behaviour towards women.

In 2018, he was kicked out of a pub in Newtown in Sydney's inner-west after he allegedly verbally abused a transgender woman.

He was accused in 2016 of physically threatening Indigenous singer, Thelma Plum.

Frost has opened up about his struggles with mental health and alcoholism in the past.

He was diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia in 2016.
