Launched in 2017 by Radio France Internationale (RFI) via its official RFI Planet Radio cooperation branch, the “ePOP Sustainable Cities” project is looking for 08 young volunteers in Africa, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Benin. The initiative, which aims to promote ecological practices in urban areas, also benefits from the support of the Institute for Research and Development (IRD) based in the French city of Marseille.
The selected candidates will have the task of collecting testimonies from local populations, in particular the elderly, on the challenges of sustainable cities. The aim is to produce two-minute audiovisual capsules. These contents will then be broadcasted on social networks, in partner media and during regional and international meetings. Concretely, the “ePOP Sustainable Cities” project will train the selected young people in the basics of audiovisual production using a smartphone, a tripod, a lapel microphone and a free editing software.
Interested young people have until 31 August 2022 to submit their applications. “They will be ambassadors of the project to schools, communities and partners. They may be invited to speak at workshops and events”, say the organisers, who specify that the contract will last for two years.
