Android 12 (Go version) will allow users to quickly share apps via Google Play and Nearby Share

Google has released Android 12 (Go version). According to the company, lightweight operating systems (OS) will enter affordable entry-level smartphones in 2022. The announcement was made two months after Google launched Android 12 for its Pixel smartphone series. Google said that since its launch more than four years, more than 200 million users have actively used the lightweight Android (Go version) operating system on their phones. The company promises faster application launches, better privacy, longer battery life, new translation features, application and device sharing, as part of the next version of Android Go to be launched next year.

Google said that with Android 12 Go, entry-level smartphones will be able to open applications faster and shorten application startup time by as much as 30%. The SplashScreen API that displays an interstitial screen with an application icon when the application is launched will also work on Android 12 (Go version). The API allows the interface of an application to be loaded in the background before being displayed to the user.

Budget smartphones running Android Go next year will also provide longer battery life and storage space, because the operating system will put unused applications to sleep. According to Google, the Files Go application is included in all Android Go phones and will provide the ability to recover deleted files for up to 30 days. Nearby Share and Google Play will allow users to quickly share applications and save data directly with each other.

Android 12 adds important privacy enhancements, including the ability to check when apps access your device and your information. Google has added the same privacy dashboard to Android 12 (Go edition), allowing you to view the timeline to see which apps are accessing your location, camera, microphone, and other sensitive data protected by permissions. The new privacy indicators launched this year will also inform Android 12 (Go version) users about apps that actively use smartphone cameras and microphones.

Google said that the Android Go system interface will also see improvements in the upcoming version, such as the fast user profile switching option on the lock screen. At the same time, according to the company, the most recent app screen (or overview) will get two new buttons that allow users to translate or “listen” to any screen content, such as news.
