Bridget Regan, who played Poison Ivy in Batwoman, is joining the cast of The CW's Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters.

Batwoman alum Bridget Regan has joined the cast of The CW's Supernatural prequel series, The Winchesters.

According to The Wrap, Regan, who portrayed Poison Ivy on the Arrowverse series, will recur on The Winchesters as Rockin’ Roxy, a rising star in the DJ world. Described as a "honey-voiced pirate radio DJ, Rockin' Roxy is hijacking the airwaves of Lawrence, Kansas to broadcast a wicked new sound. Behind the mic, she's got an electric charm and a rapidly growing fanbase. But as our heroes will sadly learn, Roxy’s listeners aren't all of the human variety." Regan's other credits include Beauty and the Beast, White Collar, Agent Carter and Jane the Virgin.

Set in the 1970s, The Winchesters follows John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), future parents to Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), as they fight monsters together while searching for their missing fathers. The series also stars Bianca Kajlich, Demetria McKinney, Nida Khurshid and Jojo Fleites. Ackles will narrate the drama.

Beyond his voiceover work, Ackles also developed the show along with his wife, Danneel Ackles, and Robbie Thompson. "[Jensen] was on set every single day of the pilot, just like being super collaborative, giving us notes, telling us about the universe that we might not know about," said Donnelly. "So it was really good insight."

The Winchesters began development in June 2021, earning a series order from The CW in February 2022. It was one of three shows to be ordered by the network for the upcoming TV season, with the other two being Walker: Independence and Gotham Knights. It will premiere on Oct. 11.

It's a tumultuous time for The CW. In May, the broadcast network canceled seven series: Legacies, 4400, In the Dark, Charmed, Dynasty, Naomi and Roswell, New Mexico. This came after DC Comics' Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were axed in April. Finally, the long-running The Flash will come to an end in 2023 with an abbreviated Season 9.

The network is also under new management. After months of reports and rumors, Nexstar, a Texas-based media conglomerate, purchased a 75% stake in the company, taking over control from Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios. While the new owners will continue to develop genre programming, they are also looking into venturing into the procedural and comedy spaces.
