Sony ZV-1F Aims to Make Vlogging Even More Accessible – G Style Magazine

There’s never been an easier time to get into vlogging or making video content than now. In the past, video creation required specialized equipment (cine cameras or camcorders) or flagship versions of more consumer-accessible cameras (like a $2k+ DSLR). Today, there are options that run the gamut from budget action cameras to full-fledge cinema cameras (think RED cameras or Sony’s FX line). Sony’s latest announcement falls on the budget side of the equation with the launch of the Sony ZV-1F.

As alluded to in the introduction, the Sony ZV-1F is an important addition to the ZV line of high-end point-and-shoot cameras. What’s interesting about this release (beyond the $500 low cost of entry) is the implementation of a fixed lens over the zoom lens in the ZV-1. The 20mm equivalent lens promises to offer a fast-ish lens that can easily capture all the action you’d want in a vlogging rig. While you lose the ability to zoom in to a 70mm equivalent focal length, you sacrifice little else over the original ZV-1.

The ZV-1F includes Sony’s hot shoe connection for microphones, providing you the option to upgrade your audio quality with a compatible shotgun mic all without needing extra cables (but you still have a 3.5mm stereo jack which is nice!). The ZV-1F inherits the same flip-out touchscreen display from its older sibling and is compatible with Sony’s Bluetooth tripod accessory.

Lastly, the Sony ZV-1F is packed with many presets to help would-be creators find their aesthetic with multiple automatic shooting options, a skin-softening filter, and the return of the S&Q mode to make hyper-lapse and slow-motion shooting a breeze. And of course, there are plenty of ways to get your content off your camera and onto your screen of choice (streaming, social sharing, etc.)

If this all sounds like your jam, the Sony ZV-1F will be available later this month (October 2022) starting at $500 in your choice of black or white (I’m kinda digging the white version). Make sure to check the link for more info or to preorder directly from Sony.
